Labor Facts

Although many countries have laws that forbid child labor under a certain age, there are millions of children all over the world who are forced to work, especially in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
  •  One in six children 5 to 14 years old about 16 percent of all children in this age group are involved in child labor in developing countries.
  • In the least developed countries, 30 percent of all children are engaged in child labor.
  • Worldwide, 126 million children work in hazardous conditions, often enduring beatings, humiliation and sexual violence by their employers.

  1. I'm wondering how the recent changes in technology and social media will play a role in the changes in the exploitation of children for labor.

  2. Child labor is dumb. I feel that children should not have to work, they have their whole lives to work why would they have to do it at such a young age.

  3. I find it pretty scary that this form of labor is still going on around the world! In school we usually learn that the Industrial Revolution was the last era of child labor. Unfortunately that is not the case. It is very sad that little kids are put to work in this day and age!

  6. I do not support child labor I think that throughout the world it should be illegal and that no matter how under developed a country is it should still have laws on age limits for the children in their countries.

  7. Interesting facts Aaron. I find it staggering that so many kids are put to work and that so many of our products come from them.

  13. Childhood slavery should be abolished. I couldn't imagine if I had to do physical labor, it would suck.
